Book blog newbie tag :)

So I’ve had this blog for a month now and I’ve just realized I haven’t done the book blogger newbie tag and thought it might be fun so you all can get to know me a little bit more. Also if you want to me to do any other books tags, let me know! I love learning about new tags!! Leave em in the comments below! So let’s get started 🙂

1. Why did you start this blog?

I started my blog first and foremost because I wanted to start a blog. My friend Tiffani and I had been talking a long time about starting blogs and never knew what to write about. Finally one day I’m like “dude, we love books. Why don’t we start book blogs?!” And the idea was born from there! (Also if you want to check out Tiffani’s blog then hop on over to Lit Boss and Lip Boss. She has some great stuff she’s been posting!!)

But primarily I want my blog to be a place to talk about books, meet other book lovers, and learn about new books that I might possibly want to read!

2.What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?

I don’t know if I’ll bring anything unique. I’ll primarily be doing reviews, posting random rambles, and doing book tags, but eventually I do want to branch out to some other topics. Another passion of mine is makeup so I’d love to post about some of my makeup hauls and tips. I am also a mama so maybe I’ll get around to talking about parenting stuffs and my girls. Maybe post a few recipes I enjoy (and some cooking fails of mine because I am definitely not a cook! That could be really funny lol) I don’t really know where this will all go so I guess we will have to wait and see together!

3.What are you most excited for about this new blog?

I guess I am just really excited about the potential of this blog and the possible doors it could open, relationships it can cultivate. I love meeting other avid readers but I also love to write and would love to meet some authors and writers too! So I guess just expanding my network and branching out to others is what I am most excited for.

4.Why do you love reading?
Real talk: I have high functioning anxiety which pretty much means I am a professional worrier. At all times, during all hours of the day I am constantly making lists, weighing potential outcomes, thinking of the worst case scenarios, and just general worrying that sometimes is very crippling. Reading offers me an escape. It allows me to get out of my own head for a little while and into someone else’s. I can explore new worlds, and learn new languages (like Dothraki and Elvish!) I can become a completely different person for a few chapters before slipping back into my own mind of constant worrying. Reading to me is like a mini vacation.

5.What book or series got you into reading?

Definitely Harry Potter.  Before all the hype, the movies, and all the memorabilia,  HP was just another book on the shelf in my elementary school library. I read Harry when it was brand new. No other books had been written, no talks of movies had been spoken, no Harry Potter world blueprints had been drawn. It was just me and Harry. And we were around the same age. I was in the 5th grade when I read Sorcerers stone which would make me about 11 years old, pretty close to Harry’s age. We grew up together. His friends were my friends, his problems were my problems, his triumphs were my triumphs, his enemies were my enemies (except Draco…always have had a soft spot for those bad boys lol) After Harry, I’ve constantly been searching for that same type of high that I got from escaping into the wizarding world. Hunger games probably is a close second but nothing else has really come close. Harry will always have a special place in my heart.

6. What questions would you ask your favorite authors?
Probably anything to do with writing: their best tips, tricks, the path they took to get published, the best advice they could give to an author just starting out. My sister actually did ask one of our favorite authors, Michael Grant a question about writing on Goodreads a few months back and he wrote a really long and detailed answer. It was so sweet and so helpful. It made me love Michael Grant even more! Needless to say, three months later and we are still geeking out over it!

7.What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome?

Probably just trying to keep up with reviews and crossing things off my “to read” list. That thing is always growing! Every time I cross off one title, I add two more. And something that is important to me is not only reviewing some of my favorite books but also reviewing some new stuff coming out. So just keeping up with my own personal demand of reviews might be a bit of a challenge with my babies running around!

8.When did you start reading?
I have always loved reading but didn’t really get into it heavily until I read Harry Potter. Then my never-ending search for something similar or that gave me similar feels was/is on!

9.Where do you read?

I don’t have a certain place. If I am at home i am either on the couch or in bed. I like to be comfy when I read. If I’m out and about, I read just about anytime I can squeeze it in: waiting rooms, red lights, before and after work, in the toilet..you know, the usual places…

10. What kind of books do you like to read?

Obviously I love teen fiction. Dystopian is my all time favorite but I also delve into mystery and suspense from time to time too. Occasionally I may read a supernatural if it’s done well. I am pretty picky about those. I don’t read a ton of romance or anything sad like John Greene. Honestly I will give anything a try though but I can’t guarantee I will always get through it!

Well I guess that’s it! Thanks so much for reading and I hope you learned a little bit more about me and what I hope this blog can be!! Leave me a comment down below and don’t forget to subscribe to see more reviews, tags, and other random things I post!
